As you will see by reading the first records of this Golden Book, at the bottom of this page, all contemporary painters have not the same opinion on copies and copyists.
However many painters made copies as well as original works.
It has been the case of Pieter Brueghel the Younger who made copies of his father's works, Jan Brueghel the Elder who made many copies of his own works and more recently the famous French painter Gustave Moreau, the founder of the symbolist movement, who has his own museum in Paris, and who from 1863, has been the official copyist of the Campana's Renaissance painting collection when it was transferred to the Louvre Museum.

I would be glad to meet you one day (incidentally, were are you situated in France : I am hailed from Anjou in France (where I shall be in a few weeks) although I am living in Canada. However I hope to come back some day to live in my country !
